Project Overview
The insurance company developed an advanced portfolio intelligence app for investment advisors using AI, algorithms and machine learning. The app aims to assist advisors in managing complex portfolios and options through personalised advice, real-time market monitoring and recommended actions. It also provides transparency to investment advisors through intuitively designed analytics that clearly convey portfolio updates and investment choices. The goal of the app is to help advisors effectively address the challenges of delivering personalised, timely and transparent solutions to customers amid industry changes.

Challenge
Recommendations also lack transparency, confusing clients and eroding trust. Traditional advisory services can be opaque, obscuring performance visibility.
Representatives struggle to provide exceptional experiences amid competition. Personalised advice and transparent performance explanations are challenging at scale or with complex products. The lack of real-time data and insights also makes informed decisions difficult.
The regional head was not satisfied with the existing app interface. The initial focus was only on functional development without considering consistent design aspects earlier in the project.
As the project had already commenced before engaging a designer, the app utilized Power BI for development. However, this tool presented some technical constraints that impacted the design process.
Guiding Question
How can complicated data be visualised in an easily understandable way for users?
What types of visualisations (e.g. charts, graphs, dashboards) best complement the design objectives?
How can AI and predictive algorithms provide personalized investment recommendations and ongoing portfolio oversight?
What information is needed to accurately determine clients' financial objectives and risk tolerance?
How can the Power BI toolset be leveraged to create an intuitive and visually appealing design interface?
Project Management
The design process involved wireframing, guidelines, UI design, and prototyping in Figma. Data analysts reviewed and usability tested the design. Power BI implemented the UI from Figma designs integrating logic.
The Solution
Requirements were clarified by studying existing features. Navigations and content were reorganised per page in rough ideas. The selected style was adopted for UI design discussing feasibility. Power BI developed the UI from Figma integrating logic with analysts. The regional head was satisfied, leading to an Asia finance award.
